On the Move: Celebrating Brum’s Transport History in Three Colours

There is something special about the energy of Birmingham on the move. Whether it is the rumble of a train, the familiar hum of a West Midlands bus, or the sleek glide of the tram across town, our transport network has always been the heartbeat keeping the city ticking.

My newest print, West Midlands Travel, is a playful, vibrant celebration of that connection.

It comes in 3 Colours (based on the Birmingham map) and a Special Edition (with a photo of a West Midlands Travel map i took whilst waiting at the Bus Stop!)

  • The Palette: Built around the iconic three colours of the Birmingham flag—yellow, blue, and white.
  • The Inspiration: A blend of my own local landscape and landmark photography layered with everyday transit sights.
  • A Nod to the Past: It wouldn't be a proper tribute to Brum on the move without honoring the legendary Birmingham Super Prix, which saw road racing tear through our city streets back in the 1980s.

Out and About at the Brum Transport Fest

The timing couldn't be better. This weekend, I’m heading down to the Brum Transport Fest, running Friday 18th and Saturday 19th September. Armed with my trusty camera phone, I’ll be soaking up the atmosphere, snapping away at the displays, and gathering plenty of fresh ideas for future work. I really can't wait!

If you're wandering through town for the event, you can also spot my artwork created for the International Day of Birmingham. It stretches all the way from Victoria Square through Chamberlain Square and Centenary Square, right down to Hippodrome Square.

Bring a Piece of Brum Home

The West Midlands Travel print is available now as an Open Edition. Each piece is printed with archival pigment inks on acid-free archival paper to make sure those bold flag colours stay bright for years to come.

Whether you're a lifelong Brummie, a transit fan, or just love a bit of local nostalgia, I hope this print brings a bit of that dynamic Brum spirit into your space.
